MANILA – The camp of PDP-LABAN standard bearer Rodrigo Duterte has made a formal request to the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI)-Julia Vargas Branch, Pasig City to issue a certification that the Davao City mayor never did have PHP211 million in his acccount there.
This was disclosed by Atty. Salvador Panelo, Duterte legal counsel, Monday.
Incidentally, Duterte also gave Panelo a “special power of attorney” which the latter submitted to officials of the BPI-Julia Vargas Branch.
However, bank officials said they need seven days to study and respond to the Duterte camp’s request.
“They asked for seven days to respond for our formal request and what is important is that we responded to Sen. (Antonio) Trillanes’ challenge,” Panelo said in Filipino.
He also said that they will wait for the results by seven days.
The senator, who running as an indepedent in the vice presidential race, earlier alleged that Duterte has PHP211 million in his account at the said bank.
