MANILA – The Office of the Ombudsman (Ombudsman) on Wednesday filed graft and illegal use of public funds charges against Sen. Jose Victor “JV” Ejercito and 19 others over the alleged unlawful illegal diversion of calamity funds in 2008.

The cases filed against Ejercito and 19 other former and current officials of San Juan City arose from the alleged anomalous purchase of firearms worth Php 2.1 million during Ejercito’s term as San Juan City mayor.

The Ombudsman dismissed the motion for reconsideration (MR) of Ejercito on graft charge over alleged unlawful diversion of Php 2.1 million calamity funds for lack of merit.
