MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) assured the investigation on police officers who used falsified documents in their application to the service.

PNP Chief Director General Ricardo Marquez made the statement Monday following reports stating 21 police officers in Region 3 submitted a fake civil service eligibility certifcate.

“We saw it on the region and we’ve learned on this oversight. To make sure that it will not happen again I instructed the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management to cascade what happened,” Marquez told reporters on Monday at Camp Crame.

“There is a continuing effort to make sure that our people are fit for the service,” the PNP chief noted.

Marquez further warned that any officer who will be proven guilty of the offense can be sued for perjury and falsification of documents that could lead to criminal prosecution and dismissal from service.

Also, violators are set to face administrative charges and criminal prosecution.

According to the PNP, this serves as a stern warning to applicants, adding that the recruitment board will implement a rigid screening process in its hiring.

“For those who plan to submit falsified records, don’t ever attempt because they will definitely be caught and persecuted,” Marquez warned.
