MANILA – President Benigno Aquino III continues to enjoy a “good” public satisfaction rating based on the fourth quarter 2015 Social Weather Station (SWS) survey.
Results of the survey showed a +32 rating for the President for the quarter, a tad lower than the previous quarter’s +41 rating but is still within the +30 to +49 or “good” rating of the survey.
In terms of socioeconomic class, Pres. Aquino got the highest rating from those belonging to Class E at +45 followed by those from Class ABC at +44 and Class D, +28.
Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Sec. Herminio Coloma attributed the high satisfaction rating from the Class E respondents to the implementation of the government’s conditional cash transfer (CCT) program.
“We note further that socioeconomic Class E constitutes the main benefactors of the government’s poverty alleviation and social development programs such as the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or 4Ps,” he said.
4Ps is now on its eight year of implementation and covers about 4.4 million household, whose members include 10.1 million youth, eight million of whom are students and two million are toddlers.
It is being implemented through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), which has disbursed a total of PHP39 billion worth of cash grant since the start of 2015.
The Philippines’ CCT program has been cited by the World Bank (WB) one of the best in the world given the volume of its beneficiaries.
