Metro Manila police forces have been put on full alert status to boost the security preparations for the All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days.

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) expects commanders down from precinct level up to district directors to implement strategies that will ensure the safety of the public who will flood cemeteries both in the metro and in the provinces.

“All our personnel will be on duty, all our day offs and leaves are cancelled. This is to ensure that we are all focused on our task of maintaining peace and order for Undas,” said Chief Inspector Kimberly Molitas of the NCRPO in an interview with Manila Bulletin.

Police forces will be present in cemeteries, bus terminals, seaports, airports, churches, malls and other commercial places.

“We have a template on police presence at bus terminal, airports and seaports, assistance desk at cemeteries. With the declaration of the heightened or full alert status, there will be more people to be deployed and they will be more focused,” said Philippine National Police Director General Ricardo Marquez.

Molitas asked the public to avoid bringing prohibited items like liquor, sharp objects, and loud sound systems when they enter cemeteries on All Souls Day.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has lifted number-coding scheme on Friday, October 30, and on All Souls Day, November 1 for public and private vehicles.
