MANILA – PLDT Global Corp. (PGC), a subsidiary of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT), launched its new subscription plan with unlimited call and data packages available to Filipinos abroad.
“This is our way of helping our 12 million global Filipinos to remain connected with their families and friends in their country and in the rest of the world,” PGC President Alex Caeg said in a Manila Bulletin report.
Aside from the new call and data service, PGC also offered unlimited Facebook surfing to their subscribers in Hong Kong for only P300 or HK$50 for 30 days. For those who need more than Facebook, they also offered an unlimited data and call subscription plan to Smart Pinoy subscribers for P588 or HK$98 for 30 days.
“Registration to the mobile data plan is simple. Just dial #143* and options for different plans can be viewed and selected,” PGC Hong Kong General Manager Edith Gomez said in the same report.
“We also have a one-day unlimited data bucket at [P72 or HK$12] for subscribers who only need data connectivity outside their residence or place of work,” he added.
Providing telecommunications services to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), PGC has been seeing huge potential in the digital arena and has been preparing for the impending digital shift.
“We are no different from what happens in the Philippines. We are also engaging into the digital-services market to empower our OFWs with Internet access,” Gomez said.
Smart Pinoy-Go Negosyo caravan
Meanwhile, PGC partnered with the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (PCE) to hold the Smart Pinoy-Go Negosyo caravan for OFWs in Hong Kong.
“This is our way of providing our overseas Filipinos a viable option when they return home and decide to start a business in our country,” PLDT Executive Vice President Eric Alberto said in a BusinessMirror report.
The Smart Pinoy-Go Negosyo caravan will include speakers Go Negosyo executive director Association of Filipino Franchisers Inc. chairman Armando Bartolome and Abrea Consulting chief strategy officer Mon Abrea who will tackle financial literacy, basics of franchising and developing the right mindset for business.
The event will also feature successful entrepreneurs Mynd Consulting founder Myrna Padilla, Reyes Haircutters chairman Celestino Reyes and Lagalag Outdoor Co. owner Ginger Aganon, and present various businesses OFWs can franchise.
“It will be a whole day of learning and fun for our entrepreneurial overseas Filipinos and we’re giving them access to the Smart Pinoy-Go Negosyo caravan for free,” Caeg said in the same report.
