MANILA, PHILIPPINES – The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is set to open a café and sports bar for its fans. Prior to the opening of league’s 41st season, the sports café will open on Oct. 15 (PH time), few days before the league’s opening, at the Metrowalk Complex, Pasig City.
The PBA café will hold the league’s appreciation night at 7 p.m. as their first event. All teams and officials are invited to share cocktails in the grand opening. Just like what the NBA Café, SM Aura did, the soon-to-open sports café will also have a sports bar set-up with high-definition LED screens where live games as well as replays are being aired.
‘’The PBA games will be shown in high definition using a modernized set of LED screens for a better viewing pleasure for fans,’’ said Jayson So, president of Inewvation Philippines, digital solutions company and the official partner of PBA in providing TV sets for the café. “This is really exciting for the league and its fans,” Jayson added in a report by Jeric Lopez in The Standard.
The PBA will also use the venue in conducting meetings and press conferences aside from their office at Libis, Quezon City. Past and present players are also set to drop by in the sports café, aiming for more interactions from fans which is the goal of the 41st season of the league.
The dishes will be served in the resto bar will be named after the current PBA stars and monikers of PBA legends. PBA and its business partners planned to put the café near Smart Araneta Coliseum to be closer to where the games are mostly played, but due to space restrictions, they were forced to move it to Metrowalk.
The season-opening of the Philippine Cup and the new season will kick-off on Oct. 18 (PH time) at the Big Dome, with a match-up between Rain or Shine and Star, which are perennial contenders.
