MANILA – According to the Department of Health (DOH) data, hundreds of Filipinos die every day due to heart attack, stroke and cancer.

Moreover, majority of heart attack and stroke victims die sudden deaths – with 276 Filipinos dying from heart attack daily while 1,440 more die from stroke daily as well.

“Filipinos can drastically reduce their risk of heart ailments through these mostly common-sense measures: having a healthy diet, exercising in regular intervals, staying away from tobacco and controlling alcohol intake. It is no longer surprising that these healthy lifestyle choices would lead to a reduction in heart attacks,” Makati Medical Center’s Cardiovascular Rehabilitation and Preventive Cardiology Unit head Dr. Adolfo Bellosillo said in a Philippine Daily Inquirer report.
