MANILA — President Benigno Aquino III has declared Sept. 25, 2015, a Friday, as a national holiday in line with the Muslims’ observance of Eid’l Adha (Feast of Sacrifice).

According to Proclamation No. 1128, Republic Act (RA) 9849, states that Eid’l Adha, which is one of the greatest feast of Islam, shall be celebrated as a regular holiday.

It explained that the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) recommended that observance of the said event in the country be done on Sept. 25 this year instead of its earlier recommendation of Sept. 24 since “this is based on Islamic Calendar and the declaration made by Saudi Arabia’s highest religious authority.”

The Proclamation was signed by the President Tuesday.
