MANILA — Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo shuns the idea of running for Vice President in the 2016 elections adding that she lacks the experience needed in the position.
In an interview on ABS-CBN newscast, “Bandila,” Robredo said that the she is not yet ready for such an “important”position.
“Sa palagay ko ‘yung VP, masyado siyang mahalagang posisyon, masyado siyang malaki para sa isang tulad ko na nagsisimula pa lamang,” Robredo said in an interview on ABS-CBN newscast “Bandila.”
(In my opinion, Vice Presidency is too important and too big for a neophyte like me.)
Robredo, the wife of former Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo who died in a plane crash in 2012, said that the position needs a kind of experience in public service which she lacks.
The statement came following the campaign called Leni Robredo for Vice President movement launched by a civil society group.
Kaya Natin Movement, formally launched the campaign at the Bantayog ng mga Bayani in Quezon City.
Robredo, who did not attend the launching of the campaign, remains hesitant to run for Vice President.
(I have been a public servant for only two years. It seems that all my experiences before I become a congresswoman were by osmosis only with the help of my husband who has been in service for a long time. But my own experience has only been two years. I believe that the vice presidency is a profound and big responsibility which requires experience from someone who has better understanding.)
