MANILA — Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. over the weekend admitted that time is no longer in their favor in passing Anti-Dynasty Bill despite the controversial measure already passed the strict scrutiny in the committee level.
The measure, which had been forwarded to the committee on Appropriations, has not move since June.
“There are more important measures being given priority like the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) and other economic bills,” Belmonte said in a chance interview.
He admitted that the failure to form a quorum gave them more headaches
“We need to pass first the priority bills before we can touch other measures which is less important. But the time is no longer in our favor so we need to convinced our colleagues to attend the session,” the leadership told House reporters.
When asked about the future of Freedom of Information, Belmonte just shrugged off his shoulder and did not make any statement.
During the second regular session, Belmonte assured reporters that FOI would pass under his watch but could not give categorical timeline when would this be.
FOI is now in the plenary and most of the time in the order of business but it is not being called on the floor.
