
MONTREAL – Canadian Brayden Schnur’s hopes of advancing at the Rogers Cup are over.
The Toronto native fell 0-6, 1-6 to Taiwan’s Yen-Hsun Lu on Sunday in qualifying action.
Lu won the match in just over 50 minutes.
Other men’s qualifiers results had Latvia’s Ernests Gulbis beat France’s Nicolas Mahut 6-7 (7), 7-5, 6-3, Donald Young of the U.
S., downed fellow compatriot Rajeev Ram 6-3, 6-1 and Alexandr Dolgopolov of the Ukraine topped Colombian Alejandro Falla 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-3.
In Toronto, Croatia’s Mirjana Lucic-Baroni disposed of Aliaksandra Sasnovich from Belarus 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (4) in women’s play. Britain’s Heather Watson defeated Australia’s Jarmila Gajdosova 6-1. 3-6, 6-2 and American Anna Tatishvili got past Mona Barthel of Germany 6-3, 6-3.
First-round action for both the men’s and women’s starts Monday.
