MANILA — Senate Majority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano on Tuesday slammed Vice President Jejomar Binay’s “true” State of the Nation Address (SONA).
Cayetano said that Binay should have revealed his “true” statement of assets, liabilities and net worth) first.
“Bago sana siya naglabas ng tinatawag niyang True SONA, sana ay naglabas muna ang bise presidente ng kanyang True SALN (statement of assets, liabilities and net worth),” Cayetano said in a statement.
(Before he released what he called True SONA, he should have released his True SALN first.)
In his speech, Binay criticized the administration’s “daang matuwid” adding that it only made more Filipinos poor.
“After five years, many are still poor and many are still corrupt,” Binay said.
He also called the administration “manhid at palpak” (insensitive and bungling).
“After five years, what the Filipino people reaped was an insensitive and bungling government,” he added.
Cayetano said that it was surprising to hear it from the Vice President who have not yet answered the allegations thrown against him and his family.
“Nakapagtatakang naririnig natin ito mula sa bise presidente, samantalang siya mismo ay hindi pa sinasagot ang mga isyu ng korapsyon laban sa kanya at sa kanyang pamilya,” the senator added.
(I’m wondering why I hear it from the Vice President when he have not answered the corruption issues raised against him and his family.)
“Up to now, he has not provided a clear-cut explanation regarding his alleged ill-gotten wealth. The public deserves transparency, the truth and honest leaders who are accountable for their actions,” Cayetano said.
