FORT ERIE, Ont. – Breaking Lucky held off Queen’s Plate winner Shaman Ghost to capture the 80th running of the $500,000 Prince of Wales Stakes race Tuesday night.

Breaking Lucky, a 13/1 longshot, claimed the second jewel of the Canadian Triple Crown in 1:59.59 at Fort Erie Racetrack.

Shaman Ghost, the 3/4 favourite, took second in the 1 3/16-mile event while Field of Courage took third in the seven-horse field.

Shaman Ghost’s second-place finish leaves Wando (2003) as the last Triple Crown champion.

The final jewel is the $500,000 Breeders’ Stakes, a 1 1/2-mile turf event slated for Woodbine Racetrack on Aug. 16.
