MANILA — Secretary of Interior and Local Government Manuel “Mar” Roxas II on Saturday assures the family of alleged July 14-rubout victim that justice will be served.
Five policemen were tagged in the killing of Robin Villarosa in a purported gun battle with the police in Sosiego Street in Sampaloc, Manila on Tuesday.
CCTV footage of the incident showed one of the policemen shot the victim three times at close range despite the victim raising his hands over his head in surrender.
“I am pleased to report that after assuring the Villarosa family of Justice for their son Robin, all five cops suspected of the alleged rubout are now in police custody.
Ngayon ay maihaharap na sa hustisya sina Senior Insp. Rommel Salazar, PO1 Ronald Dipacina, PO3 Ferdinand Valera, PO1 Rhoel Landrito and PO1 Diomar Landoy – na kasalukuyang nasa kustodiya ng MPD,” Roxas said in a text message sent to Philippines News Agency (PNA).
DILG Chief expresses gratitude to the members of the PNP for their hard work to resolve the case and to show to the public that even cops are not exempted if they disobey the law.
“Maging mensahe na ito sa lahat ay pantay sa ilalim ng batas, maging ordinaryong tao, pulitiko ka man o pulis,” Roxas said.
MPD director Sr. Supt. Rolando Nana said the policemen, assigned at the Gulod Police Community Precinct, were now in restrictive custody at the District Headquarters Support Unit (DHSU).
Nana said that once the court issues an arrest warrant, they would serve it to the policemen so they can face the charges filed against them.
A murder complaint has been filed against the five cops by the family of Robin Villarosa.
