Minister Nicholson Offers Condolences Following Ferry Capsize in Philippines

OTTAWA, Ontario – Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada

The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today issued the following statement on the capsizing of a ferry near the port of Ormoc City in the Philippines:

“We are deeply saddened by the news of the sinking of a ferry carrying 189 people near a central Philippine port. On behalf of all Canadians, I offer my deepest sympathies to those who have lost friends and family members as a result of this tragic event.

“I also extend my wishes for a swift recovery to those who sustained injuries in this terrible tragedy.”
