MANILA — The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday reset the oral arguments on the case of the Torre de Manila which was earlier scheduled on June 30, 2015.
In a press conference, SC Public Information Office (PIO) Chief and Spokesman Atty. Theodore O. Te, said that “the Court GRANTED the Solicitor General’s Manifestation and Motion to Reset Oral Arguments and RESET the oral arguments to July 21, 2015, Tuesday at 2 PM at the Session Hall of the Supreme Court.”
In the motion signed by Solicitor General Florin Hilbay, the OSG sought to defer the oral argument for a period of 30 days from June 30.
According to Hilbay, the OSG is now busy in preparing for the scheduled hearing of the case filed by the Philippine government against China before the International Tribunal in connection with the territorial dispute at the West Philippine Sea.
The said hearing will be conducted at the Peace Palace in The Hague, Netherlands from July 7 to 13, 2015.
Hence, Hilbay argued that to give sufficient time for the OSG to prepare for the hearing of the case of the Torre De Manila, which also necessitates meticulous preparation, it would be better to reset the oral argument of the case.
The OSG will represent the Philippine government for the said two cases.
