MANILA — With only four months to go before before the Oct. 31, 2015 voter registration deadline, Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Chairman Andres Bautista has called on the people to help them in informing the public about the importance of the biometrics.

With this, he urged them in spreading the word on the poll body’s stepped-up “No Bio No Boto” campaign.

“People should get involved. Kailangan namin ang tulong ng lahat. Marami ang hindi makakaboto sa susunod na eleksyon kung wala silang biometrics,” Bautista said in a statement.

Around 4.3 million voters may face disenfranchisement in the next year’s election if they failed to have their biometrics data taken.

Biometric data include digital photo, signature and fingerprints in their voter registration record.

“Help us spread the word about the ‘No Bio No Boto’ campaign. By simply informing your neighbors about the need to validate, citizens can contribute a lot in preventing massive disenfranchisement in 2016,” Bautista added.

The poll chief said local Comelec offices could provide volunteer voter educators with a list of voters without or with incomplete biometrics in their area.

He noted that they need to visit the Office of the Election Officer in their area to request for a copy of the list.

Likewise, Bautista urged the youth to help in the campaign by maximizing social media platforms to amplify the poll body’s call.
