Nearly half of BBL may be revised — Marcos

MANILA — Malacañang may no longer expect the passage of their version of the Bangsamoro Basic Law, as the Senate may revise nearly half of it, according to Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Marcos said in a Philippine Daily Inquirer report by Leila Salaverria that he is currently drawing up the list of amendments he wants to propose and come up with a substitute bill.

Nearly half of the original draft of the BBL may be revised, according to Marcos.

The revisions may include the controversial opt-in provision which will allow the expansion of the proposed Bangsamoro region.

Marcos added that it may also include revisions on the provisions that will affect financial and business communities not just in the new region but on the surrounding areas.

The senator added that he will present a draft substitute bill once the list of his proposed amendments is done.

He also  explained that he will only be creating a substitute bill which will include the proposed amendments, but not an entirely different bill made from scratch.
