MANILA – Celia Veloso, mother of drug trafficking convict Mary Jane Veloso, is not satisfied with the action of the Philippine government on her daughter’s case. To this, President Benigno Aquino III would no longer argue but insists that his administration is doing all possible ways to save the life of Mary Jane.
“May obligasyon tayo na pangalagaan ang kapakanan ng mga Pilipino at iyon ang ginawa ng gobyerno,” President Aquino said in a radio interview.
(We have an obligation to take care of the well-being of the Filipinos and that is what the government did.)
President Aquino also clarified that the government has been dealing with Mary Jane’s case since he took over presidency.
“Kung palagay ng nanay niya kulang ang ginawa namin hindi ko na aaksayahin ang oras ko na makipagsagutan,” he said.
(If her mother thinks that what we did is insufficient, I will no longer waste my time engaging in arguments.)
Mary Jane has been scheduled for execution by firing squad in Indonesia last month but was granted temporary reprieve after the administration and other organizations sent appeals.
