MANILA — A new traffic deployment plan has been crafted to allow sufficient traffic personnel around the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) complex.
According to the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), this scheme has come about since traffic around the airport worsened due to road constraints brought about by the ongoing NAIA Expressway project.
Construction of the expressway is slated for completion in two years.
However, over the past weeks, this situation has also made airport passengers worry, if not complain, about missing their flights.
MIAA General Manager Jose Angel Honrado said that with the visibility of traffic enforcers, traffic flow is expected to improve around NAIA.
“…Together with agencies concerned, we can ease traffic flow, especially for those going to and coming from the airport,” Honrado said.
The deployment scheme is as follows:
Ninoy Aquino Avenue – Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and Paranaque City TrafficManagement Office
MIA Road – MMDA
Domestic Road – MMDA
Andrews Avenue – MMDA and Pasay Traffic and Parking Management Office (TPMO)
Sales Avenue – MMDA and Pasay TPMO
Honrado further said that traffic should be everyone’s concern.
“I appeal to motorists who will be picking up passengers from the airport to proceed to the terminals once the passenger is ready to be picked up” the airport chief said.
“Do make use of designated parking areas while waiting and not the curbside areas of the terminal or along the streets,” he added.
