MANILA — A Filipino man was injured when an explosion hit a building in Sana’a, Yemen, the Department of Foreign Affairs said on Tuesday.

The Filipino, the DFA said, was taken to a hospital for treatment and subsequently released.

“He is now out of danger and is recuperating from his injuries,” DFA spokesman Charles Jose said.

Jose said no further details were available, except that the incident happened in the capital’s Fajhateen district.

As Yemen edges towards an all-out civil war, Manila ordered the mass evacuation of more than 800 workers in March.

Since the evacuation started, the Philippine government was able to bring home 477 workers, but less than 400 have remained, defying threats to their security.

“With the security situation in Yemen remains volatile and dangerous, we hope that our people will prioritize their safety and take advantage of the Philippine government’s repatriation offer,” Jose said.
