Another BIFF camp seized in Maguindanao

MANILA — Troopers from Joint Task Force Central have successfully overran another Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighter (BIFF) encampment in Barangay Pusao, Shariff Saydona Mustapha town, Maguindanao Sunday.

Brig. Gen. Joselito Kakilala, Armed Forces of the Philippines spokesperson, said the captured camp have fortified trenches measuring two kilometers long and overhead bunkers.

“These trenches are parallel to the irrigation dike with a road pathway that can accommodate one vehicle,” he added.

Kakilala said the capture stemmed from a brief encounter between Joint Task Force Central units and the BIFF which took place at the vicinity of Barangays Pusao and Tina around 10 a.m.

No casualties were reported by government forces while the BIFF sustained an undetermined number of casualties in the encounter.

An M-79 grenade launcher was also captured from the encounter scene.

Clearing operations are still ongoing as of this posting.
