MANILA — Britain’s Princess Royal, Princess Anne, will be in the Philippines next week, in a visit that is part of high-level exchanges to strengthen relations between Manila and United Kingdom.

This will be Anne’s second visit to the country since March 1999.

A British Embassy statement on Thursday said the Princess Royal will call on President Benigno S. Aquino III and will also meet with Vice President Jejomar Binay.

While in Manila, Anne – the second child and only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, will attend various charitable events.

The 64-year-old Princess Royal is president or patron of some 320 organizations.

Her work with the ‘Save the Children,’ of which she has been president since 1970, “has given her great insight into the needs of children worldwide,” the embassy said.

An expert horsewoman, Anne succeeded her father in 1986 as president of the International Equestrian Federation, a post which she has since relinquished.

After five years as president of the British Olympic Association, she was elected to the International Olympic Committee in 1988. She has also been president of the Riding for the Disabled Association since 1969 and the Royal Yachting Association since 1987.

The embassy said the Princess Royal will not be doing any media interviews during her visit, adding that there will be no media coverage of events and activities she will be attending.
