MANILA — Justice Secretary Leila M. De Lima on Monday appealed to the critics to avoid any speculation that there was a “white wash” in the investigation by the Board of Inquiry (BOI) about the Mamasapano clash.

De Lima said such speculation was unfair and it would be better to just wait for the release of the BOI findings before making any comments.

Meanwhile, because of the delay in the BOI report, De Lima said that the report of the DOJ-NBI investigating team might also be delayed such that the BOI report was one of the bases of the team in its recommendation.

The DOJ has set the April 2, 2015 as deadline for the submission of the report of the investigating team.

Likewise, De Lima also said that she understood that the BOI had asked for an extension of time, rather than submit a “half-baked” report.
