MANILA – President Benigno Aquino has appointed a new chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) – Special Action Force (SAF) in the person of Chief Superintendent Virgilio Moro Lazo, an ex-SAF trooper
Lazo succeeds Director Leo Napenas, who was axed from the position on account of the botched Mamasapano operation.
Chief Superintendent Noli Talino served as SAF OIC before Lazo’s appointment.
Lazo graduated from the Philippine Military Academy Maharlika Class of 1984. He was a SAF trooper from 1984-1989, and from 2010 to 2013. He also held the post of chief of the PNP’s Firearms and Explosives Office.
