MANILA — American author Whitney Otto once wrote, “No one fights dirtier or more brutally than blood; only family knows it’s own weaknesses.”

And perhaps this is the case with the Cojuangcos of Tarlac.

Former Tarlac representative Jose “Peping” Cojuangco Jr. — uncle of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III — declared his support for Vice President Jejomar “Jojo” Binay for the the 2016 presidential race.

In an interview on ABS-CBN news program ‘Bandila’ Tuesday night (Feb 24), PNoy’s uncle asnwered “Yes” when asked if he would support Binay in 2016.

Cojuangco even said that he regrets supporting PNoy’s presidential bid in 2010, but he also clarified that he is not “bitter” after not being appointed to office by his nephew.

“I have my own things to do,” Cojuangco said.

“I am now involved in sports. I am the president of the Olympics Committee. Hindi naman ako nabubuhay sa politika (I do not live for politics),” he said.

Cojuangco also said that he is supporting the call for PNoy’s resignation because he feels that he “[owes] it to the country.”

“I feel that I owe it to the country. I owe it to the people… I think I did my part in restoring the democracy in the country and I don’t want to lose it,” he said.

On the other hand, Cojuangco believes that should his nephew decide to step down from office, Binay should not take over the presidency.
