Aquino administration’s net satisfaction rating steady in Q4 ‘14

MANILA  — The Aquino administration’s net satisfaction rating remains steady based on the fourth quarter 2014 survey of the Social Weather Station (SWS).

Results of the survey, printed on the January 20, 2015 issue of national daily Business World, showed that the latest net satisfaction rating of the current administration stood at +34, which SWS defines as “good”, from a rating of +35 in the survey conducted in the previous quarter.

Year-on-year, the latest rating is lower than the +51 rating in the last quarter of 2013.

In terms of ratings on specific issues, the government received the highest rating, at +42, for helping victims of disasters.

Defending the country’s territorial rights came in second, +40 percent and providing enough supply of electricity and promoting the welfare of the OFWs came in third with a rating of +38.

Respondents also gave a positive rating on the government’s foreign relations and helping the poor after both got a rating of +33 as well as on preparing for climate change, +31.

Four issues got “moderate” rating namely reconciliation with Communist rebels and providing jobs, +17; and reconciliation with Muslim rebels and fighting terrorism, +15.

Meanwhile, “neutral” ratings were given to eradicating graft and corruption, +6; fighting crime, +5; ensuring oil firms don’t take advantage of oil prices, -8; and ensuring that no family will ever be hungry, -9.

On the other hand, the government got a “poor” rating on fighting inflation, -12; and in resolving the Maguindanao massacre case with justice, -41.
