MANILA – Via an episode of “Aquino & Abunda Tonight,” Kris Aquino clarified the reason behind a recent visit to her home by Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, with whom she was once romantically involved.
Bautista dropped by Aquino’s Quezon City residence on Sunday night, during the taping of Aquino’s morning talk show, “Kris TV.” The visit was caught on camera and aired on Monday morning.
Aquino said that Bautista stopped by to see how she was doing, after her hospitalization due to an allergic reaction. She also explained that he came over to express his support for her latest film, “Feng Shui.” These gestures, she added, show that their friendship is still intact, despite a falling-out early this year.
The actress-TV talk show host also revealed that Bautista wanted to have Christmas lunch at her place, but she thought it best not to concede to the request.
“I’m still a girl. At some point, we shared something special. ‘Kung pupunta ka, baka kung ano pang interpretation ang ibigay ko (If you come over, I might give your actions a different interpretation.),'” Aquino recalled what she said to Bautista when she turned down his offer for Christmas lunch.
In deference to Aquino’s decision, Bautista said he would just drop by on another day.
On Sunday night, Bautista said he was in the area and asked if he could visit. He came by to greet Aquino, and see how she was doing after her hospitalization.
Aquino emphasized that Bautista’s actions are not to be misconstrued as a “Kristek” reunion.
“I want him to remain a part of my life, I want us to be friends until our dying day,” she said.
“I hope hindi na nila lagyan ng any other kahulugan apart from the fact that we managed to become friends (I hope that they do not put any other meaning to this apart from the fact that we managed to become friends.) Ang ganda (How beautiful), the year started, we rekindled the friendship and the year is ending, I can safely say he is one of my closest friends,” she added.
“Kristek” was the moniker the couple was given, taken from Bautista’s former role in the TV-sitcom “Bistek.”
