MANILA — With only four days before the New Year revelry, the number of stray bullet victims remains at six people from different parts of the country, Philippine National Police (PNP) –Public Information Office (PIO) head Chief Supt. Wilben Mayor said on Sunday.
Mayor said that as of 6 a.m. on Sunday (Dec. 28), two people have been wounded in NCR, three in Region 4A, one in Region 7, since December 16.
Mayor also said that in all 45 reported incidents, 21 people have been injured from firecrackers.
The PNP-PIO Chief added that four also reported unauthorized discharged of firearms while 1,100 illegal firecrackers worth Php 8,000 were confiscated.
He said that five persons were arrested due to unauthorized discharged of firearms to include two policemen, one security guard and two civilians.
The PNP earlier called on the public to immediately report cases of indiscriminate firing especially as the New Year celebration draws closer.
Meanwhile, Mayor encouraged the public to discreetly take a picture or much better a cellphone video of any individual who is in the act of indiscriminate firing so it could be used later as evidence.
