Records of the Philippine National Police’s Firearms and Explosives Office show that guns seized during a raid on the maximum security compound of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) belong to politicians.

Officials disclosed yesterday that three of the guns recovered from  high-profile convicted drug lord Peter Co belong to politicians; including Rep. Joaquin Carlos Rahman Nava of the lone district of Guimaras, under whose name a caliber .22 Walther pistol (Z004605) is registered.

Meanwhile, a caliber 5.56 Bushmaster rifle with serial number L433821 is under the name of Valenzuela City congressional candidate Carlitos Tiquia; who lost in the 2013 polls.

A 9mm Browning pistol, on the other hand, bleongs to barangay councilman Vicente Alindada Jr. of Caloocan’s Barangay 8 in Sangandaan.

Records likewise revealed that a fourth gun, a 9mm Browning pistol, is registered under the name of Avelino Nicanor, purportedly also a government official.

According to an unidentified source, the politicians will be summoned for questioning, as the guns were never reported missing or stolen.

“We want to get their side first. We also want to know, how come the guns registered under their names were in Peter Co’s possession?” the informant said.

A total of five firearms were seized from Co’s luxurious quarters within the NBP. Operatives also confiscated a total of P1.14 million in cash, as well as illegal drugs.

The fifth gun will have to undergo further testing, as the serial number has been rubbed out.
