MANILA – Senator Grace Poe said she is not considering highest position but whoever will be the next president, he should continue the straight path policy of President Benigno Aquino III.
”Right now, I’m not considering any particular commitment except that I think, whatever the President has started, whoever will be the candidate should be able to continue that,” Poe said in a media interview during the 10th death anniversary of her father, actor Fernando Poe Jr.
Poe said the government has yet to fully wipe up graft and corruption but “we are getting there.”
”When it comes to fighting corruption and upholding transparency in government, it is a process. We don’t achieve it overnight,” she said.
”But I think the best example is coming from the president. If you have president whom you can trust, that’s already a big factor in discouraging corruption. So I think, yes, the President is keeping his promise,” Poe added.
When asked if the recent survey showing her big improvement from fourth to second of the possible presidential candidates in 2016, Poe believed that there are other people who have the desire and capability to be the next leader of the country.
”In my case, I don’t have to be on the top position. Wherever I am, all of us, wherever we are, we can help this straight and narrow path. It does not have to be in one particular position,” the lady lawmaker said.
Poe was adopted by the administration’s Team Pinoy coalition in the senatorial race in 2013, getting the highest votes of over 20 million.
