MANILA – Former world champion Brian Viloria hurdled another win that moved him closer for another crack at world title, stopping Mexican Armando Vazquez in fourth round in Glendale, California on Sunday.
According to philboxing.com report, the Hawaii-based Filipino fighter dropped Vazques with a devastating left hook to the liver at 1:47 of the fourth round.
It was the second win for Viloria since he lost his WBO and WBA titles to Juan Francisco Estrada of Mexico on April 6, 2013.
Last March 29, Viloria won his comeback fight via a unanimous decision over Juan Herrera.
Top Rank promoter Bob Arum said if Viloria wins anew and undefeated Chinese Olympic champin Zou Shiming takes the IBF title against Ammnat Rurenroeng in Macao in March next year, the two fighters are likely to face each other later in 2015.
Viloria improved his ring record to 35-4 with 21 knockouts while Vazquez fell to 20-14-2 with 4 knockouts.
