Coast guard: Over 2,000 passengers stranded in ports

MANILA — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Friday said that a total of 2, 202 passengers have been stranded and 36 trips cancelled due to typhoon “Ruby” as of 8 am.

On its official Facebook account, PCG said that those stranded included 163 vessels, 127 rolling cargoes, 10 motor bancas, 58 vessels (taking shelter) and 36 cancelled trips.

PCG Units ensure the strict implementation of guidelines on the movement of vessels during heavy weather.

A breakdown of those stranded include:

 

National Capital Region – Central Luzon

Manila – 1,273 pax, 2 vessels, 2 cancelled trips

 

Northern Mindanao

Cagayan de Oro – 68 passengers, 2 vessels

Surigao – 5 passengers

Ozamis – 30 passengers, 16 vessels (taking shelter)

Dapitan – 13 passengers, 4 vessels, 7 rolling cargoes, 39 vessels (taking shelter)

Butuan – 2 vessels (taking shelter)

 

Central Visayas

Cebu – 24 passengers, 94 vessels, 6 motor bancas, 4 cancelled trips

Tagbilaran – 136 passengers, 6 vessels, 3 rolling cargoes, 2 motor bancas, 8 cancelled trips

 

Bicol

Sorsogon – 333 passengers, 2 vessels, 78 rolling cargoes, 2 cancelled trip

Catanduanes – 106 passengers, 9 vessels (taking shelter), 19 rolling cargoes, 1 motorbanca, 1 vessel (taking shelter), 10 cancelled trips

Masbate – 110 passengers, 10 vessels, 20 rolling cargoes, 1 motor banca, 9 cancelled trips

 

Eastern Visayas

Maasin – 104 passengers, 33 rolling cargoes, 1 cancelled trip

Tacloban – 1 rolling cargo
