MANILA – Vice President Jejomar Binay on Sunday congratulated Filipino world boing champion Manny Pacquiao for dominating American Chris Algieri to retain his WBO welterweight title in Macao.

”He showed us that he has the true heart of a champion and once again, made us all proud to be Filipinos,” VP Binay said in a press statement.

Binay said Pacquiao proved that with determination and focus, anyone can achieve whatever the goal he wanted to achieve in life.

”Algieri may have the advantage in height and reach, but Manny overcame that with his heart and determination,” Binay said.

The 5-foot-10 Algieri failed to use his four inches height and five inches reach advantage after he was knocked down six times by Pacquiao.

With his win, Pacquiao improved his ring record to 57-5-2 with 38 knockouts while Algieri absorbed his first defeat in 29 fights.
