MANILA — Manny Pacquiao is still the welterweight champion after defending his title against American boxer Chris Algieri.

Algieri survived all twelve rounds but suffered through 6 knockdowns within the first ten rounds.

Pacquiao wins via unanimous decision, with the scorecards showing 119-103 (2x), 120-102.

“He is [a hell of a] fighter,” says Chris Algieri at the post-fight interview. “He is the best in the world.”

“Tonight, I did my best,” says Pacquiao. “I came to fight. I am satisfied with my performance tonight.”

“I’m trying for the knockout, but it’s hard. He’s fast, he’s [always] moving,” says Pacquiao.

When asked about a match with Floyd Mayweather Jr., he says, “I am ready to fight him next year.”
