MANILA — Anti illegal drugs operatives of the Quezon City police seized about Php 20-million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or commonly called as “shabu” from a Chinese national during a buy-bust operation on Friday morning in Barangay Capitol Sity, Quezon City.
Quezon City police chief Senior Supt. Joel Pagdilao identified the suspect as Jiacheng Shi, known for his aliases “Joseph Sy” and “Boy Intsik”, 33, married, merchant, native of Fujian China and presently residing at no. 288 Escolta St., Binondo, Manila.
Pagdilao said the arrest of Shi was relative to the QCPD’s aggressive anti-illegal drugs campaign, in cooperation with the community and barangay officials, as part of the crime reduction program ordered by Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas and Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista as well through the full support of the Quezon City Anti-drugs Abuse Council (QCADAC), headed by Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte.
The buy-bust operation was conducted by operatives of the District Anti-illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (DAIDSOTG) about 7:20 a.m, along Masaya St., near corner Maginhawa Street.
Sr. Insp. Robert Razon, DAIDSOTG chief, said police operative acted as buyer and positively bought from Shi one kilo of suspected shabu amounting to Php 1.5 million.
After the police poseur buyer gave the signal during the drug deal, the operatives arrested the suspect who did not resist.
Razon said when police further checked the suspect’s black Mazda with plate number POA 949, they discovered at the back part of the driver’s seat another four packs of suspected shabu placed in a Chinese Tea plastic and stuffed inside a sports bag.
He added the four packs of suspected shabu weighed about a kilo each with an estimated street value of Php 20 million, including the first pack.
The suspect was detained at the DAIDSOTG detention facility in Camp Karingal. He will be charged of Violation of Section 5 and 11, (Possession of Prohibited/Dangerous Drugs,) under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Pagdilao commended the operatives for the recent accomplishment which manifested support to the “Serbisyong Makatotohanan” as emphasized in the C.O.D.E-P and Beyond program of the PNP Chief Director General Alan La Madrid Purisima.
