MANILA — The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Sunday announced that an Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) camp was seized by government forces in Patikul town, Sulu.

This took place roughly 3 p.m., AFP public affairs office chief Lt. Col. Harold Cabunoc said.

He added that the camp, which appears to have been abandoned by ASG elements some three days ago, can shelter 100 people.

War material were also recovered.

Cabunoc declined to give the specific location of the camp as military forces are still tracking down the bandits.

He added that the camp is not the one where German couple, Stefan Viktor Okonek and Henrike Dielen were held captive.

“It (camp) belongs to another (ASG) group,” the military official stressed.

Cabunoc stated that they are expecting contact with the ASG anytime soon and that they are using K-9 units to track down the bandits.
