MANILA — Malacanang expects prices to ease resulting from the decision of the City of Manila to lift the truck ban.
“We expect na mag-i-ease po ‘yung inflationary pressure on prices because magiging mas continuous na po ‘yung supply ng ating mga produkto,” said Deputy Presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte in a press briefing over radio station dzRB Radyo ng Bayan.
Valte said the lifting of the truck ban will also help decongest the Port of Manila especially as Christmas season nears.
She said the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is ready to facilitate the traffic flow in the area starting Monday.
“Yung pagdating po sa MMDA, dahil kahapon pa naman po ng tanghali lumabas itong balitang ito, sigurado po tayong nakarating na ito kay Chairman (Francis) Tolentino at handa naman po sigurado ang MMDA na makipagtulungan kung paano po mafa-facilitate ‘yung traffic natin para bukas,” she added.
Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada lifted the controversial truck ban effective noon Saturday to help address the port congestion problem of the city.
“Sa akin pong pagkakaalam ay talaga naman pong kasama sa pag-uusap ang pamahalaan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, lalo ho pagdating dito sa isyu ng port congestion saka ‘nung sa truck ban. Alam ko naman hong bukas ang linya, mula pa ho ‘nung simula, bukas ang linya ‘nung ating mga Cabinet secretaries at ni Mayor Estrada tungkol po sa isyu na ito,” Valte said.
