MRT now fully operational after mishap — DOTC

MANILA — Full operations resumed less than an hour after a Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3) coach got derailed in Taft Avenue station on Wednesday afternoon.

Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya confirmed through radio reports.

The train derailed and slammed the fence wall in Taft Avenue corner EDSA station in Pasay City.

The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation.

MRT spokesperson Hernando Cabrera earlier said that authorities are finding about if the reason for the crash was caused by human error or a technical problem.

Some 20 people were reported injured and brought to nearby hospitals.
