MANILA — Senate President Franklin Drilon Monday said that the Senate will support the supplemental budget that Malacanang will ask Congress.

This after the Supreme Court handed down their decision on the motion for reconsideration filed by the executive department on DAP which was declared unconstitutional.

“Yes, we will support the supplemental budget. This is badly needed to fund government projects which were temporarily stopped. We need to wait for the SC to decide on the MR filed by Malacanang and from there, we will take the cue,” Drilon said.

He said he has no idea yet on how much Malacanang will ask but this will be the ultimate solution to continue funding DAP projects.

“We will look closely if the decision for the motion for reconsideration is resolved. If indeed a supplemental budget is needed,” Drilon stressed.

“Supplemental budget is mentioned primarily as solution to the problems on the DAP because SC itself recognized that DAP benefited the economy that played a significant role in the expansion of the economy. From here, we will see what we can do to correct whatever errors were committed and we will move forward from there,” Drilon explained.
