MANILA — The government expects power to be restored in over 90 percent of Metro Manila on Thursday after the powerful typhoon “Glenda” toppled electric poles and downed transmission lines of the Luzon grid.

“Ang target nila (Department of Energy) ay within today (Thursday) yata ay maka-more than 90 percent na,” said Presidential Communication Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio Coloma in a press briefing.

Coloma said power has been restored in 84 percent of Manila Electric Co.’s franchise area in Metro Manila Thursday morning.

The PCOO chief said the government’s priority is the restoration of power in all typhoon ‘Glenda’-affected areas.

“Sinisikap nilang maibalik ito sa lalong madaling panahon,” he said.
