Tropical Storm “Glenda” nears PH

MANILA – Tropical Storm “Glenda” (International name: Rammasun) is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) late Sunday evening , between 10 pm-12 midnight, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA.)

The storm, which packs maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 80 kph, was last seen at 1,150 kilometers east of Bicol moving westward at 235 kph.

Effects of the storm will be felt over Bicol on Tuesday morning.

PAGASA anticipates “Glenda” to make landfall in Quezon province on Wednesday morning, with the possibility of affecting Metro Manila before it exits the PAR on Thursday.

The tropical storm can also intensify into a typhoon while it is still on water, PAGASA said.

Rains of up to 20 millimeters per hour are expected with the “the seventh storm to enter PAR this year.
