Angat Dam’s water level drops despite rains

MANILA — Despite rains in the past few days, the water level in Angat Dam and four other dams in Luzon continue to dip.

Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the state weather bureau, said in its latest advisory that Angat Dam’s water level fell from Wednesday’s 175.76 meters to 175.36 meters above sea level on Thursday.

Angat Dam, which supplies 90 percent of Metro Manila’s water requirements, is still below the 180-meter critical level.

Other Luzon dams which continued to experience water level fall includes:

La Mesa Dam – 77.49 meters from 77.52 meters
Ambuklao Dam – 741.48 meters from 741.50 meters
Magat Dam – 166.57 meters from 166.58 meters
Caliraya Dam – 286.46 meters from 286.72 meters

Despite these recorded decrease in water level, some dams have experienced an increase in the past few days including:

Ipo Dam – 99.86 meters from 99.83 meters
Binga Dam – 568.43 meters from 568.19 meters
San Roque Dam – 236.59 meters from 236.33 meters
Pantabangan Dam – 182.47 meters from 182.43 meters
