MANILA -– The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has checked 400 elementary schools for electrical safety in preparation for the school opening on June 2.
”With ‘My School is Safe’ (safe ang school ko) we have assessed the electrical safety of every school that was visited,” said Meralco representative Buenaventura Floreza during the Oplan Balik Eskwela inter-agency command conference held Tuesday at the Department of Education (DepEd) main office in Pasig City.
Meralco representatives, along with DepEd personnel, have been visiting schools within its franchise areas to ensure that everything will be ready for the resumption of classes.
“We also checked the electrical connections not only the lines of Meralco but also inside the school buildings,” Floreza said.
The Meralco representative added that branches of trees that might affect the electrical lines were cut to prevent it from causing power outages.
The My School is Safe program started in 2004 and is spearheaded by the One Meralco Foundation.
