MAKATI CITY — A high-ranking executive of a large property developing firm died after falling from the 16th floor of his condominium unit in Makati City on Wednesday.
Police reports indicated that Vice President for Sales of SM Development Corporation Efren Tan, 52 was dead on the spot after landing head first on a concrete canopy on the 7th Floor of the BSA Tower along Legaspi Street.
Senior Superintendent Manuel Lukban, Makati City Police chief told INQUIRER in an interview that Tan was identified as a senior official of SMDC by his relatives who later arrived in the scene.
The impact of the fall left Tan’s body dismembered in the canopy with brain matters splattered on the area.
“(The view) was really gruesome,” the Makati police chief told Inquirer.
No foul play seen
After launching a comprehensive investigation, Makati police said there was no foul play involved in the incident.
Tan was alone in his unit and they found no signs of forced entry by any party.
A police official also said that the Closed Circuit Television (CCT) revealed that Tan’s driver was not with him in the unit and was only waiting for him at the parking lot the entire time the incident occurred.
Tan was then brought to the morgue in a funeral parlor in Makati City while his entire family and colleagues were still shocked from his untimely death.
