MANILA — Two persons died and two were injured due to a grenade explosion on Tuesday in West Rembo, Makati City.

Senior Superintendent Manuel Lucban, chief of Makati Police, identified the fatalities as Joseph Teodones, who tried to save the suspect’s target by trying to change the direction of the trajectory of the grenade but failed; and Perla Due who died while being treated in the hospital.

Lukban said that an unidentified man wearing a bonnet threw the grenade directed to a certain “Butchoy” at a house in Teachers Compound located at the corner of Lawton and Kalayaan Streets around 9:16 a.m.

He said it seems the suspect knows the supposed target (Butchoy) or he has a mission to kill that person.

The grenade did not immediately explode when the suspect threw it.

Butchoy and a bystander, identified as Helen de Ocampo, were injured from the blast and was rushed to Ospital ng Makati (OsMak).

The Makati City Police has yet to investigate the incident.
