As part of the Asian Heritage Month, there will be a film screening of the movie, Iliw, at the Ottawa Public Library on 120 Metcalfe Street, Ottawa on May 24, 2014, from 2-4 p.m.
The film, starring Kaye Abad and directed by Bona Fajardo, is an epic love story, a classic tale of forbidden romance between warring nationalities.
During World War II, Fidela and Colonel Takahashi find love in each other’s arms despite everyone’s disapproval. As the war comes to a close, Colonel Takahashi is ordered by the Japanese Imperial Army to destroy Vigan and make it uninhabitable. Because of his love for Fidela, he disobeys his superiors and leaves the town unscathed.
