Katherine Heigl confesses she has made little income in recent years.
The 35-year-old actress recently asked fans on the Internet to help finance her new independent film Jenny’s Wedding by contributing to an Indiegogo campaign.
The picture needs $150,000 to finish post-production, and Katherine reveals she is too financially strapped to fork up the cash herself.
“I haven’t made that much in the past few years man, I gotta support my family,” she was captured on video telling TMZ photographers after they asked if she’d be willing to “fill in the extra amount” herself.
Katherine has been married to her singer husband Josh Kelley since 2007 and they are parents to two adopted daughters together.
Although she may be experiencing money strife at this time, Katherine reveals the prep work she did to portray her lesbian character in Jenny’s Wedding.
“I did full on threesomes and watched threesomes with women,” she said of the research undertaken before shooting the comedy.
“It has to do with emotion and love and finding the right person in life and I already know all that.”
Katherine’s request for fan funding seems to have fallen on deaf ears. The Indiegogo campaign has only generated $25,762 of the $150,000 goal, and contributions are open for 35 more days.
Katherine seemed to have a stellar movie career ahead of her after she left Grey’s Anatomy in 2010, but her major studio films have largely been box office flops.
Last September The Hollywood Reporter published a scathing article about Katherine, alleging she is incredibly difficult to work with.
“She can cost you time every single day of shooting,” a source told the outlet.
“Wardrobe issues, not getting out of the trailer, questioning the script every single day. She hit that point of ‘no’ [with major film studios].”
