MANILA, Philippines—Six areas in Northern Luzon are placed under public storm warning signal no. 2 as tropical depression Vinta intensified into a tropical storm.
On Wednesday, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) added that the tropical storm is likely to stay until the weekend.
The weather bureau said that as of 6 a.m., the center of tropical storm Vinta was located at 650 km east northeast of Virac, Catanduanes (16.0°N, 131.8°E) packing with maximum winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
Vinta is expected to leave the country’s area of responsibility on Saturday morning as it heads to southern China.
